LAMB GYROS KIT

Capturing the essence of Greek street food, The Standard Meat Co. has marinated and slow cooked and Australian lamb in olive oil with garlic, lemon juice, rosemary, oregano and cumin, to enjoy with traditional Greek pita bread. When paired with your choice of salads and condiments, you can recreate a delicious family meal.

LAMB GYROS

 Ingredients

1/2 iceberg lettuce, sliced
2-3 tomatoes, sliced
1 red onion, sliced
200-300g tzatziki
Optional – add your favourite sauce

Method

  1. Re-heat the meat and pita according to the instructions provided. While the meat is cooking, slice the lettuce, tomato, and red onion.
  2. To make your gyros, spread a spoonful of tzatziki onto a pita bread. Add the lettuce, tomato, and red onion to your preference. Add cooked lamb, wrap the pita around the filling and enjoy.

Chefs Tip

Adding a squeeze of lemon juice will enhance the flavours of the lamb and herbs.

PITA

  1. Defrost pita for 1-2 hours at room temperature or microwave.
  2. Open packaging and empty contents into a microwave safe dish.
  3. Cover and microwave on medium for 1-2 minutes.

LAMB

  1. Defrost lamb for 12 hours in the fridge at 1-5⁰C.
  2. Open packaging and empty contents into a microwave safe dish.
  3. Cover and microwave on medium for 3 minutes.
  4. Break apart lamb pieces, re-cover and microwave on medium for 1-2 minutes.

  1. Defrost as per above instructions.
  2. Preheat large pan or flat grill on medium heat.
  3. Open packaging and empty contents into a pan, cook for 7-10 minutes, until liquid has evaporated and meat has browned.
  4. Transfer to serving dish and serve with pita bread.
  5. Add your favourite ingredients and sauces.

PITA

  1. Defrost as per above instructions.
  2. Open packaging and separate pita breads.
  3. Heat fry pan to medium heat.
  4. Lightly coat both sides with olive oil.
  5. Warm each pita individually on a medium heat for 1 minute each side.
  6. Enjoy whole or cut to serve as preferred

LAMB

  1. Defrost as per above instructions.
  2. Preheat oven to 200⁰C.
  3.  Open packaging and empty contents of the meat package onto a lined oven tray.
  4. Cook for 10-12 minutes at 200⁰C, or until liquid has evaporated and meat has browned.
  5. Transer to serving dish and serve with pita.
  6. Add your favourite ingredients and sauces.

PITA

  1. Defrost as per above instructions.
  2. Preheat oven to 200⁰C.
  3. Separate pitas and place on lined oven tray.
  4. Heat for 3 minutes until warmed through.
  5. Enjoy whole or cut to serve as preferred.

  3. Separate pitas and place on microwave safe plate.
  4. Microwave package on high for 1 minute to warm bread.
  5. Enjoy whole or cut to serve as preferred.
