A RICH HISTORY

In 1956, a young 13-year-old Eusebio Marcocci and three of his older brothers departed their family in war-torn Abruzzo in Italy to find a new home in Australia.

In 1960 Eusebio opened his first butcher shop University Meat in Carlton. He looked after his customers and business thrived, expanding to 49 retail butcher shops throughout Victoria.

Proudly overtime the business has adapted and grown into the University Food Group which incorporates the business units of University Meat, Country Cooked International and Service Sphere.

Operating for over 60 years in the retail, food service and manufacturing sectors, University Food Group continues to be managed by three generations of the same family.

As a family business we have a continuous improvement mindset and are focused on developing meaningful long-term relationships which reflect in Eusebio’s mantra of “we serve you to serve you again”.

With great excitement the University Food Group is investing in a new purpose-built facility in Newlands Road, Coburg North due to open in 2024.

The safety and quality of food is our key priority. We’ve established a dedicated team of qualified Quality Assurance personnel and implemented multiple measures across our supply chain. We meet the HACCP base Quality Assurance System (accredited by Prime Safe). We’re also SQF, AQIS and Halal certified.

For decades University Meat has been supplying Australia’s best hotels, restaurants, cafes and caterers with high quality meats and smallgoods from some of Australia’s most sought-after producers.

Sliced, diced, portion controlled, minced, skewered or marinated, our wholesale meats are always of the highest grade. Our quality of product, flexibility of supply, level of service and consistency has seen us grow to become one of the country’s largest meat wholesalers.

Country Cooked is a sous vide, slow cooked protein specialist. The secret to many of Australia’s best hospitality venues, our focus is to supply cooked products which create a great base to build unique flavoursome dishes.

Our value-add Country Cooked range includes sous vide and oven roasted products as well as pre-prepared, ready-to-cook proteins.

SERVICE SPHERE

Here you can find everything coffee! Since our commencement in the late 1990s, Service Sphere has grown to become an industry leader in the national supply of coffee equipment, preventative coffee machine service, genuine coffee machine spare parts and technical training.

Service Sphere are authorised Australian importers for many leading coffee equipment brands including LaCimbali, Eversys, Eureka, Casadio, Rheavendors and Bravilor.

We have the privilege of selling this fine equipment and providing national preventive service to an array of coffee roasters, caterers, franchise groups and hospitality chains.

We are also an authorised service and parts provider for Kenwood, Braun and Robot-Coupe.

SUSTAINABILITY

To reduce our environmental impact we are constantly looking for new ways of producing more with less. Undertaking sustainable practises include reducing energy, water, waste and carbon emissions across all of our business divisions. 

As part of our sustainability vision, we’re building an advanced food manufacturing factory in Coburg, Victoria. This new facility will transform our business, delivering a more energy efficient operation significantly reducing our environmental footprint.  

MY ROOM

We play a big part in supporting those in need. In 1992, a group of parents including Eusebio Marcocci OAM helped found My Room Children’s Charity with the humble goal of raising enough money to renovate the rooms of the cancer ward in The Royal Children’s Hospital.

Today, My Room has raised millions of dollars to fund clinical research and trials to achieve its goal of 100% cure rate for childhood cancer, as well as providing medical equipment and family support.
